If you are lucky enough to be staying close enough to the entrance of the Race Course to walk, then your journey time should be significantly reduced. Be aware that the distance from the entrance of the race course to the southern entrance of the bridge is approximately 1.5 kilometres.
Houses closer to the race course will no doubt be more expensive to rent.
There is a second pedestrian access which is specifically restricted to residents of Dorney and this access is on the north side of the Rowing Lake .
If you are staying in a house in Dorney (including Boveney) you will be a temporary resident and entitled to use that pedestrian access just a stone's throw away.
When buying your Olympic rowing ticket, be sure that this is clear and make sure you explain where you are staying, so that you do not have a problem with gaining access on the day.
